A little story about Lokta Paper - Since ancient times, the cottage industry of hand-made paper has provided sustainable living for the people of Nepal. The industry is based on local raw materials and traditional skills of the people. The paper is made entirely by hand from the bark of the Daphne Cannabina shrub, locally known as "Lokta". Not a single tree is destroyed in bringing this product to you. Lokta is an indigenous plant found at an altitude of 3000 - 10500 feet, with characteristics of regenerating every 6-8 years...and thus preserving the fragile Himalayan Ecology and Economy. This Lokta product is hand crafted by women and is entirely tree free.
